For some reason the way they are advertising guest for for Alan Carr tonight. The announcer keeps saying Scottish actor James Macavoy and British comedian David Mitchell. I know they are both technically correct. Just sounds odd.

Surveys show that English people tend to call themselves British, whereas Scots call themselves Scottish; so maybe the guests made the choice.

That's interesting. I don't think either were consulted in this case as it's just the voice over by on the promo.
Well they've had to point it out with DM because he isn't the only famous one. And maybe they assume their average viewer might not know who James McAvoy is?

It's why I like the escrow on Elance, if you put in the timesheet they have to actually complain to stop you getting paid

yeah it would be much easier if my clients were on eLance. I reckon I'd have to talk them through the signup process every time if I wanted them to be.
I think people don't see the wider context- they see £20/50/100 as not so much of a big deal, but when you're chasing 4 or 5 people, that's anything from a week to a month's wage I've not got. I'm terribly behind on my bills at the moment. I've had a bit of a rocky start in the world of self employment.

I hate this. My OH is going through similar. Terrible, corporate employers who don't realise that staff performance and attendance is directly related to morale and benefits.
Oh God I hate that attitude, moneys money it's insulting when people think it's just a small fee.
Infact with off Elance clients I try and persuade them to go online and even pay the fee out of my end.
It kinda makes everything a little more serious.
And £100 is a day wages for some one earning £26,000 a year so it's no small figure.
Word. People are the worst.
I tried writing for cats, but there's a lack of range and I only ever got paid in hairballs.
I just had to cancel a biggish job, the money wasn't great but the client had so many milestones built in it would have cost me money in the end.
