I must've Derren Browned you with that pic of Di Canio. ;)

Teddy has returned to his night shift and novel writing and will return to these boards once he has completed and sent off his first three chapters to all an sundry in a bid to find an agent.
His card writing will continue as it pays, but his desire to rite comedy for money to live on is his over riding aim.

Finish the novel first Teddy. Send the first three chapters or however much when it is done.

I would love to be in a postion to do that Marc as I know you're a published writer and that your advice is solid and from experience.

However at the moment in my life I spend so much of my day and nights trying to find the money for rent and food that the only thing keping me going is the idea of sending out the first few and seeing if it is acceptable.

If what I am writing is comeercaillly viable enough to pique the interest of an agent then I would sell what's left of my belongings and use the proceeds to spend a month completeing it without having to work nights and write tired.

Honestly Teddy, without a track record its going to be a very hard sell on the basis of a few chapters. They would want to know it is written before anybody starts committing anything. Thousands and thousands of people have started novels and never finished them. I am not saying that is the case with you.. but from the industry's perspective. Will you finish the novel if you don't get interest from an agent?

But even then, you wouldn't know if it would sell or not and you would be left with no possessions or job. I admire your commitment Teddy - it is certainly a kick up the bum to those of us with more time but less motivation (like me!)

I really hope it works out for you.

*Sees Marc's new profile pic. Decides someone has to do it, so it might as well be me.*

Ahem.

That is a huge instrument you have there, Marc :)
