WHY are some men so impossible to buy presents for? Is there a male equivalent of the generic gift? Like jewellery or a Jo Malone candle or body butter?

No. There is not. Even Not on the High Street is letting me down, which is a rarity.

Humph.

A set of spanners?

Or a tiny set of pliers.

Or one of these, used to make fresh holes in a waist belt, thus indicating that he is getting slimmer. http://cpc.farnell.com/duratool/d00126/leather-punch-set/dp/TL10335

How about one of those men's sets of toiletries from Body Shop or the like? Or a nice food gift, like vinegar sets or posh relishes?

Complete waste, I bet most men hate getting sets of toiletries and probably has lots of never used sets tucked away in a cupboard.

In fact, I think men's toiletries should be banned - or rather the perfume content in them. Most of them have a nauseating, overpowering perfume - it's the Body Shop stink multiplied 100 fold.

I spent three weeks cheerfully spraying body spray under my armpits without realising it wasn't deodorant !

No wonder my shirts were getting wet !

Chip's tossing and turning.

Filth.

Chip missed a bit while shaving earlier in the week and has had to trim bits of his face with scissors. He thinks he's got away with it.

Yeah,...well...more or less.

Should we have a BCG meet up, I promise to bring my chicken bag.

If/when I come down to London town in the New year we should arrange something for then! There are lots of different people since the one and old meet I went to.

Nothing worse than a rogue hair.

Ben is not a fan of gluten-free pasta.

Always cook to the package directions unless you want to be eating glue. San Remo is a good brand but don't know if it's available in England.

If you have choice, I would suggest eating normal pasta.

My dad's a coeliac, so he would have been a bit put out with normal pasta. The stuff he gets on prescription is very good, but this rubbish was from the supermarket and was 'clumpy'.

Prescription pasta? What a beautiful world we live in!

A fly on your breakfast, missing Allsorts, and now clumpy pasta.

Your life is one long culinary minefield right now.

Chin up, mate! :)

It's ok, George, I'm planning to watch a lot of telly tonight to cheer myself up.

Maybe best not to eat/drink anything though, to be on the safe side. :)
