Advice on Apple iPod

Hi, thought it may be worth asking on here as I suspect there are plenty of users much younger than me who may well have a far greater understanding of the whole Apple/iTunes business.

Basically, my wife has an iTunes account and over the last couple of years our son has been entertained by the odd App that we've downloaded for him.

He now has an iPod touch and ideally we'd like him to have access to the current Apps and games but don't necessarily want the iPhone or iPad filling up with an 8 year olds stuff in future. There's already too much One D on the iPhone and we don't want him to have access to some of Pink's more poetic lyrics.

Can we specify what devices are synced with what content within the same account or would we be better creating a new one for his device? And if we create a new one, is there a way of moving the Apps/games we've paid for to his account or do we just need to bite the bullet and pay for them again?

Any advice would be appreciated as it appears you have to make an appointment a few days in advance if you want advice from our not so local Apple store.

Thanks in anticipation.

Steve.

No it isn't! It's ridiculous and not very helpful when you've made the effort to hall your sorry arse to Milton Keynes specifically to go to the Apple shop for advice. But, in answer to your question, yes, seriously.

You can probably find some info on the Apple support forums

Yeah, it's a pain. I find looking wide-eyed and confused helps, as does focusing on the nearest Apple 'genius' who looks like they haven't had any female attention for a while. I often find I'm then 'squeezed in'.

I'm not above dirty tactics in the Apple store.

As for your problem, I have several Apple devices with different apps on all of them. I have them all synced up to the one iTunes account. I then download the apps I want onto each. If I have already purchased the app, it will simply say 'already purchased, would you like to download' and I click yes. So you aren't paying for the app more than once, but you can have it on as many or as few devices as you like.

Not sure about Touch though - I know some apps don't work on iPods.

Thanks Harridan.

And thanks Jennie. For all of it, not just the bit about how to get attention in the store. I'm off to shave my legs and dig out a mini skirt.
