Much as I hate to say it the Daily Mail has the right on this.

They may be wrong for picking on lefties, the dead and sneering, snide, implacatory journalism.

But they didn't draw attention to Ralf's Judaism. He was one of thousands of Jews who fled Germany and Eastern Europe during the 1920s-1940s to flee Russian and then Nazi persecution.

And here many set up communist and Bundhist groups and dearly would have liked England to have been more socialist.

I include a lot of my relatives in that group. Stalin's persecution of the Jews in 1940s and 1950s is perhaps one of the greatest betrayals they suffered.

The Daily Mail could have mentioned this legitimately as historical fact. They didn't, pretending they did is an act of supreme selfish, stupidity.

Perhaps the issue is that for all it's huffing and puffing the Mail just doesn't understand socialism. These people had no appetite for violence or revoloution really. They wanted a fairer society, with more sharing around. In the end painfully for them the USSR was an utter anethma. For them the revoloution that counted was universal sufferage, health care and the welfare state. In many ways they felt they'd won.

I actually don't care what it is that they're demanding an apology for, it's the very ridiculousness of them demanding one at all.

I've only just realised this isn't the news thread.

such wonders in the world.

Having watched the advert for months, tonight it's bugging me that I can't think who the actor is. It's the one with (re-created) Audrey Hepburn and the song is 'Moon River'. Interestingly I can't remember what it's advertising. Galaxy? Who's the (re-created) actor?

Thanks. It still seems to me he looks like a male film star from the past but I can't think who.

He looks a bit like Dean Martin?

Dammit, now that's going to bug me too. But I guess they chose him for the job because he has that Old Hollywood look.

He does a bit but that's not who it was.

Maybe but he still seems very familiar.

I don't think so...

Mainly in the shot where he's wearing a hat. Not so much in the rest.

Among other gifts, my daughter brought me one of these from her recent trip to Belgium.

I definitely do 8, 15, 16, 21 and 36.
And probably quite a few of the others.

You catch yourself checking 8,15,16,21 and 36 to find out how weird zooo is.
