So you wouldn't mind if they switched prices around?

I never stint on factory workers' dandruff and dried snot gristle. Has to be top of the range.
I mainly keep to the vans I know at festivals and outside football grounds.
For home, I used to buy great fish from a van that travelled up from Hastings but it became too expensive. Do feel that Marks and Spencer are streets ahead of other supermarkets on fish.
Waitrose are good ethically and that matters but I only buy meat there because of the price. Ideally, I prefer the farm shop but that's occasional because of price and distance.
A big fan of Morrisons. It really is one of the few places in Britain that retains a recognisable, ordinary, normality. I would go as far as to say my support for them is inverted snobbery.
They are also the best for fruit and veg plus cheap bread.
Finally, I drink very little alcohol - about a pint or two a month - but it has to be real ale and I've got strong preferences on breweries.
When I lived in Newcastle I was way choosier about my food because I had a LOT of options. The Grainger Market there is awesome and we used to get all of our meat (including fresh game), vegetables, cheese and Japanese and Chinese ingredients from there. "Do you fancy cooking venison pies tonight?" Sigh, those were the days. I'm a lot more limited in Middlesbrough and the market selection really isn't great, though you can occasionally get awesome bargains on big batches of fruit and veg that was too ugly for the supermarkets. We now do our shops almost exclusively at the nearest big Tesco. It makes me a bit sad, but mark down hour is fun. A Gineau Fowl for £1.83? Yes please, I'll take three. (I did.)
A guinea fowl should really be £1.05.
I'm a total snob with food. I won't have any 'own brands' in the house.
But I have one weakness. I don't like Heinz tomato ketchup and I love the cheap ketchup. It's probably because there is more vinegar than tomato in the cheap brands but that makes it more tarty and nice.

I love that part of the world. The best fish I ever had in a pub was in Robin Hood's Bay and I'm a big fan of the Captain Cook bitter at the White Swan in Stokesley. Definitely worth a drive out from Middlesbrough.

Did you cook one for the cats?
I suppose at the end of the day though, it all comes down to this

I'm a bit of a snob with sauces. Ketchup must be Heinz, Daddy's or Chef. HP sauce is the only brown sauce. I'm also a beer snob. Real ale is king. I also love Guinness but there are only about three pubs in the whole of South London I'll drink it in.
Having worked in advertising I have absolutely no loyalty to brands whatsoever.
The price difference between own brand and name brand is essentially what payed for gits like me to swan around in sports cars all day.
