My 14 year old daughter asked me to get a magazine earlier as it had it an article on her favourite band, McFly.

The publication? Attitude - The UKs leading gay magazine full of gay news, Travel guides and hot features.

:)

Heh, they always have people I like on the cover, so I've bought a few issues of Attitude over the years. They have great taste!

Not sure my dad would have agreed to buy it on my behalf though, so I am impressed.

Trying to carry too much up stairs, tripped and dropped laptop, spilling coffee all over it. Now it will only switch on for two seconds before cutting out.

:( :( :(

So annoyed with myself. Is there anything I can do to try and mend it, short of taking it to a repair place?

LEAVE IT TO DRY OUT BEFORE SWITCHING IT BACK ON AGAIN!

Ah. Too late. I've left it to dry out now, but I've probably wrecked it. I'm such an idiot.

Electronics are funny. You may be in luck and after a few days of drying out it could work as if nothing happened :)

I've done something like that before, Jennie. It's very frustrating, but you just have to hope it recovers!

Thanks :) Should I leave it a couple of days? I was thinking 24 hours.

Thanks. :) I'm just in one of those phases where it feels like I break everything, then I feel guilty for not valuing things. Really need my laptop!

Also, I really hope I don't have to take it to a repair shop. At the point I dropped it, I was researching something for work that is not easily explainable! I hope they don't just turn it on and it pops up...that would be unfortunate.

Longer :(

I'm sure Billwill and others may disagree with it but you could try and leave it in direct sunlight for a few hours to "speed up" the drying process. Although I'd only suggest that if you were really impatient.

Tell ussss!

I hope it gets better. I never trust those laptop fixers.

important:
Remove the laptop battery while it is drying out.

Let's just say, it was for a sex case and I was researching a more "avant garde" sexual practice I had never heard of before (and I have encountered a lot of crazy weirdo sex shit in my time.)

The Google search bar was on the screen.

As well as an episode of Jeremy Kyle.

The shame :( Teary

Have done, thanks. Suspect my initial efforts at drying it with a tea towel were insufficient!

Yikes. Smash it to tiny bits and set fire to it - you don't want anyone knowing you watch Jeremy Kyle!

Ba-dum-tsssschhh

I have my Peter Townshend defence ready.
