At last! An outlet for remainders of The Mail and The Sun.

A poet has withdrawn from a poetry competition after he was caught out for having plagiarised many of his poems. This must be the most self-absorbed non-apology I've seen in a long time:
In an email to the Forward Arts Foundation, Allen wrote: "I accept that I did plagiarise certain poems (although it was genuinely not my intention to deceive), and that I am withdrawing from the competition because of the intolerable strain of the recent, negative publicity surrounding this.
"However, I continue to maintain that the poem submitted to the Forward Prizes is original."

It is quite funny. Although in a way poets are sort of self-absorbed by definition.
You have a point, but generally they are more self-aware. But I guess lacking that quality might be why he had to plagiarise...
In my opinion he has to realise
There's never an excuse to plagiarise
Poets are all weirdos.
Quote: Jennie @ September 22 2013, 11:25 AM BSTWell, not really. Underpinning his comments is the view that women (notice it wasn't directed at male delegates) should be criticised if their homes are anything less than sparkling.
I have plenty of "domestic failings" and would happily give anyone a slap who thought they had a right to comment on them.
Maybe, but what the press got excited about was the use of the word slut, not understanding - or choosing not to understand - that a) it did not mean what they thought it meant, b) it was a joke.
Quote: Jennie @ September 22 2013, 11:25 AM BSTStill, maybe he is actually a secret agent:
The Tory press were out to find a way to wreck the conference whatever happened. A big UKIP vote lets Labour in.
I think the word slut is equally offensive which ever way its used
Can anyone confirm if he really is the last man in England ever to have been Christened Godfrey?
I believe it's what Richard Dawkins is planning on calling his kids.

All of them?
Surely the girls will be Cissy and Dolly.
God free
'tis a pun.
