I haven't seen that before - really made me laugh. I particularly liked the way the DM insisted on putting quotation marks around both "comedian" and "funny".

they should have to put quotation marks around newspaper, when describing themselves.

It's a crap song, it's got some horrible lyrics.

But I guess it shouldn't be banned. Because 30 years ago someone would have suggested banning Relax.

It's the age old thing for me, I respect your right to speak your mind, I just wish you didn't.

Well they're not banning it entirely, jut banning it inside the college. Not really a big deal in the great scheme of things.

Well banning it from the union and club nights at the uni is still a trenchant message in my book.

In other news the 4 rapist, murderers in India are going to hang.

It's an odd one. Thicke is obviously a slimey, rank piece of bum-stuff, and one I certainly would never want to look at or hear. I genuinely don't think this song is actually about rape, however it has a very broad interpretation and if the college think that a large part of that is potentially adding towards the trivialisation of sexual assault in Student Lad Culture (for ref see UniLad. Rank rank rank), then I don't see the problem with them deciding it isn't appropriate for a scholastic environment. Providing they also ban 75% of Hip Hop.

The picture they have found to accompany the article certainly illustrates his respect for women.

I don't believe in the death penalty, but, meh...

In my eyes, blood for blood will always be a poor solution. It's a really horrible case which will have a terrible end. No one wins here.

I can see that in the case of those 4 chaps, their deaths will offer the family some peace. But that's not a good enough excuse for anything, besides you execute the open and shut case then you hang the guy with dodgier evidence.

As for blurred lines, thing is it is this blurring of the lines around sex assaults and worse. That is so dangerous, but censorship is wrong.

Where's Madonna singing Respect yourself when we really need her?

Sorry to be illiberal, but the hangings make a statement about societal aspirations in respect of attitudes to women that a custodial sentence frankly would not. That a culture dogged by brutal misogyny should respond to violence against women in this way is a good result.

I guess it's because these 4 chaps so deserve to swing, that they shouldn't. It's this kind of test that shows a societies decency and for it's own sake, they should be spared death. But sew mail bags or weave baskets till they are very old and grey.

Definitely believe in actual life sentences for violent crimes.
But they so rarely happen.

I've got to disagree with you. The song is still all over the airwaves and TV, it's available to buy in ahrd copy and digital and they are not stopping students from listening to it. They've just deemed that it is an inappropriate song to have on in and be associated with the activities of a University. And that's totally fair enough.

I wish it wasn't so f**king catchy though.

Catchy, no way, no where near as call me maybe.

As for censoring of coursethat's unbelievably stupid. I mean a university saying
"no you can't listen to this on our premises because we know best."
Is like a red flag dipped in amphetamine to an especially angry bull.

Besides who goes to a uni these days to listen to choonage?

Man, I love that Call Me Maybe song, and I know I shouldn't. Mainly because of this video though which is my absolute favourite thing on the internet.
