I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,307
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ September 11 2013, 12:25 AM BSTAgain, eh? What could be cheerier news than that? A person being found innocent of a dreadful crime!
You've misread me. I meant cheerier news than the trail, which I'm sure whichever side of the fence you sit on is unpleasant to think about. Not cheerier than the outcome.

why does piers morgan keeping getting on message, its confusing me
Does that statistic not depend a lot on what decisions are taken on when to admit and discharge patients? Everyone has to die somewhere and life expectancy is significantly higher in the UK than in the US.
Maybe it is because our wonderful health service enables people to receive the palliative care and pain management any civilised society should provide to an individual at the end of their life.
What happens in the US when people who don't have insurance are dying? Do you get automatic palative care in a hospital, or do you die at home? Would be interesting to know the percentages of home deaths vs hospital for both countries.
I think it's a meal of 2 courses. The US system allows HMOs to charge higher or refuse treatment to preconditioning conditions and very ill people. Those who come in to hospital get excessive testing and treatment. So they have a lot of false positives.
But.....
The market defintiely drives bad performers out of the medicine business and crap doctors don't work. Kaiser Permanente one of the most controversial providers has managed to provide the community based service the NHS has been trying to for decades.
The NHS has proved utterly incapable of handling mistakes or bad practice ever, anyone who works in that area knows it.
Apparently the UN rates the US and UK as equally bad, and shameful for such rich countries spending so much on health, so badly.
Holland, Sweden and many other countries do a lot better, by having a model of private provision, controlled by government maintained schemes.

Part Two is even funnier.

"I'm sorry Mrs Jones, we can't afford to save your life with anticancer drugs, but you'll be pleased to hear the money we saved will be spent on your end of life care."
What the puck did this one do in a past life???
I find this sort of thing jaw droopingly awesome.
