Just watched the repeat of "The Richest Songs In he World" before it went from iPlayer, and it struck me what a good presenter Mark Radcliffe is. Can't think of a better current music presenter off-hand.

The Righteous Brothers twice in the top 5!

Yeah, though not as song writers.

Here's an article with the list:

Yep - and Stuart Maconie.

Do they still have their afternoon show on 6Music? Both very knowledgeable DJs.

Yes - I like them both.

Recommendations:

1 - Nightingale, Da Bank (Dance)
2 - Harris (Americana/Country), Radcliffe (Folk)
3 - Kennedy, Duran (World) Shipton (Jazz)
6 - Cerys Matthews (Eclectic/Blues), Radcliffe/Maconie and Guy Garvey (Indie/rock)

BBC Radio London - Crowley (Indie)
BBC Radio Scotland - Ricky Ross (Country)

I just love Cerys's voice. I can't help smiling in a nice way whenever I hear her.

I really love her speaking voice. It is great on a Sunday morning.

And in this age of formulaic dross, her programme should be the blueprint for imaginative music radio.

Amen to that

He's ace isn't he?

Criminally underused

I can even listen to his shows even though I hate most of the music he plays!

He doesn't waffle inanely like other plastic robotic presenters

He's blokey in a good way, and knows his stuff.

Two CDs and one DVD!

And a cracking set it is too, this remains my favourite Marillion DVD bar none. Not being in it helps with that, of course! ;)
