Just wondering if anyone can help me with a question I have, I am writing a sketch and it involves rubbish recycling.

Around here where I live in the welsh valleys we have a grey week and a green week

on the grey week we can put everything out wheelie bin, garden waste, cardboard and stuff

But on a green week we can only put cardboard and garden waste out.

Anyway we call it a grey week or a green week. But I think that may only be around here.

So my question is do other people who live outside my little welsh valley have a grey week and a green week or perhaps call it something else, I am looking for a phrase, that would be recognised if there is one.

Thanks

I think we call it black bin week or green bin week here.

Green week (normal bins and green waste) and blue week (recycling) for us. Some places still have standard weekly collections.

Black bin and green bin both get emptied once a week.

The luxuries of London living.

Usually people give their opinions on other users' rubbish in Critique. :P

It's all a lie Manwelly. They do in fact have to man/woman haul their rubbish to a hundred foot high tip where Aaron scans them just in case there are any old comedy DVD's in the bins.

Green and Brown weeks here by the way.

Brown every week.

Brown and black (recycle) and green (garden) every other week.

They don't have green bins in London because every bit of space is taken up by rough sleeping illegals.

Couldn't tell you. I leave that sort of thing to the servant/slave.

And I can tell you it's not an easy job. Especially with all that travelling. I have to get up before I go to bed as a famous sketch once said.

Do you have bins in Scotland or do you just throw it out of the window into the street below?

Thank you everyone for your input, I think black bin week and green bin week would be an understandable term thank you zooo for that one.

And don't forget to put your bins out, whatever week it is

Thanks again

Or as we say in The Black Country . .

Tara and thank ya mother for the pailin's.

We don't throw things away in fact - that would be too extravagant.

Well here in commuter belt surrey we have four bins; a black crate for paper recycling and a food bin which get collected every week plus a black full size bin for recyclables and a green one for the rest collected every 2 weeks.

Maggots and smells in the green one in the recent really hot weather.
