I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,297

Isn't that misreporting by omission?

What papers are you reading? If it's an important case you'll get all the details you want in something like The Times. Or used to at least. You get the level of reporting you want and pay for really, it's there somewhere.

How much do you think it would cost to have Duncan Smith assassinated ?

I always think of this analogy when it comes to the news and media and the world:

We are not in primary school anymore, we are in high school. Grow up

Courtney Stodden's husband Doug Hutchison is reportedly 'freaking out' that his teenage wife might leave him.

Who? And who?

More than you get on benefits, he's a crafty bugger. Get your point tho, it's a disgrace this charmless chinless broom handle can use an entire class of people as his blank canvas to pursue some Dickensian grudge-cum-ideology. The only good news is it's killed the Tories at the next election and probably one or two more to follow.

He must be from from Pennsylvania and she is probably from Kentucky.

You think?

They are only 5-7 points behind labour

And labour are pretty much a shambles ATM

I hope your right , but I'm not sure I share your confidence...

Nor am I sure with politics these days, it's changing quickly, I see fringe parties taking seats off the big 3 now and UKIP doing well but come the next g. election a lot of angry folk will want the Tories out. By then Labour should've got a bit more streetwise, maybe with Balls in or on the horizon as leader, and certainly should be saying things like no more erm immigrants and maybe no to Europe if they really want to win. There's a huge swing and clear victory wrapped up in that little promise imo. If they lose their dodgy PC image that's plagued them then they have a giant support base, but it'll take bottle to kick out the looney PCers Harman, Short, Abbott, Benn, etc. even Balls' own wife. They are what lost Labour the last one.

Meanwhile in the absence of DNA in violent/sex crime trials then I think the Americans' admissible use of the lie detector should really be looked at by us. Is it right to ignore its incredibly high proof rate in the US? In a case like the one we're talking about, I'd have thought it's an ideal last resort. Use it then give the result to the jury to help with their decision. Seems fair enough.

Lie Detectors are bullshit.

Maybe it would be worth trying to tackle the public opinion that anyone who is accused of something is guilty even if they're found innocent. How, I don't know.

This would be wonderful. I fear it would also mean the end of the tabloid, and indeed much of the broadsheet press. But it would be wonderful.

Tony Abbott is the New Australian PM

How To Win An Election

1. Be Like Cameron

Tony is economically conservative and a staunch royalist. However, he has shown in his backing for aboriginal people that he is a strong supporter of minorities.

2. Be Like Blair

Tony was born in Britain and educated in Oxford. At high school, he was taught and influenced by the Jesuits and nominates Fr. Emmett Costello SJ as a significant mentor. At university, he encountered BA Santamaria, a Catholic political activist who opposed left wing elements in trade unions. He himself then entered St Patrick's Seminary intending to be a priest.

3. Be like Putin

Tony, at 55, likes to depict himself as an all-action hero. He is frequently filmed on Bondi Beach preparing for his early morning swim and revels in the fact that he was a boxing blue at Oxford. According to experts, his political tactics are akin to an "aggressive terrier". When punched unconscious, he simply bounced back.

4. Be Like Bush

Tony was 19 when his girlfriend became pregnant and claimed he was the father. The couple did not marry and put the child up for adoption. For 27 years, he believed that he was the father until DNA tests proved otherwise. But his social conservatism is legendary, particularly in regard to abortion and stem cell research.

Tony is also a climate changer doubter and has described evidence provided by scientists as "dodgy". At an October 2009 meeting in the Victorian town of Beaufort, he was reported to have said on the need to reduce carbon emissions: "The argument is absolute crap".

She was 13 and he had a supply of child porn and bestiality films in his house.

If a man like that could be prosecuted than what hope is there for the rest of us?

Laughing out loud

Yes, you're right, why did I think she was fifteen?

Interesting that whatever porn you have people assume that must be your thing. I mean if you had a book on nazism they wouldn't assume you had nazi sympathies.

Good article on the recent historical prosecutions - Stuart Hall etc.. by a Barbara Hewson QC on Spiked here. All of her articles are worth reading.

The issue is more that child pornography by its definition is images of people being abused. So you're paying and encouraging the commission of a crime.

Maybe there's an argument for some sort of academic library of images, for people doing research?

Personally I think the more child abuse is treated like a crime and nothing more, the more likely it is there'll be more convictions. The moral panic makes victims think they'll be morally stained, that and it'll make them more willing to press charges against their abuser. Someone they may have very complex feelings about.

Actually not that bad, my mobile isn't working properly and my pad was charging,
Thanks for your concern, that is what it was?

Tony Abbott appears to be a nutter:

Anyone got any idea whether this is genuine? It comes across like an Iannucci bit, so I'm wondering whether it's something Chaser knocked up.

EDIT: Nope, appears to be real. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Txu451r014
