They are digitalised. And that's really not going to happen at any time in the forseeable future.

Well they don't require you to type in your TV Licence number to access BBC News Online, do they? ;)

Yet ;)

I know it's the age-old debate this one and people polarise around one view or the other and I don't suppose there will ever be much movement either way.

I can see the counter-argument but just think that good old Auntie is a force for good and at about £10 a month it's not too steep to keep something with a fairly balanced political agenda available to most.

Oh God what have I done now? Cue the Daily Mail readers to rise to that last comment. :$ :$ :$

You know what I mean - when the analogue signal is killed.

I can personally see it happening tbh. The choice for TV is getting so huge I think more and more people will get riled by the fact they are paying for a service they just aren't using any more. And being thrown in prison if they don't cough up.

Yes, your patriotism is well placed Aaron, what a great country.

Well, I think that the BBC News teams could often do with a bit of a lesson in balance and non-bias, but it's far more open than some institutions and media outlets are - and apart from that (and the existence of programmes like Little Miss Jocelyn), I agree.

If it happens, I don't think it'll be this side of my 50th birthday. The change in infrastructure, legislation and technological setup would just be ridiculous. There's more than enough of a change just to switch to digital signals, so they're not about to change anything major like that again.

And of course there's the fact that they're really not going to want to either. Otherwise that would mean having to be competative and actually earn their right to broadcast.

They've more than earnt it IMO.

Well that's lucky for you!!

Oh and btw, I just want to stress that these views are in no way related to BBC producers and other people who commision scripts -

I've always loved these people and couldn't think of a bad word to say against them if I wanted to :P
