If he blanks again we should expect "Aguero, the Wrath of Godot."

I have to say that that is probably the most witty thing I've ever read. Sublime genius.

Death is the only option now Badge, to avoid a life of diurnal anti-climax.

Cheers, Godot (and Steve). Bit surprised you signed Aguero. Obviously the opposition was weak but 11 mil is HUGE money for a "rotation risk" striker. He's got Stoke next, sticking with or getting rid?

I've been trying to avoid points hits but it's not always advisable. I laughed when I read Chappers took an eight-point hit but he finished above me this week.

I'm still reeling from the f**k up that was the Chelsea double-game-week. Some of it was self-imposed because I knew Ivanovic was a better short term option than Azpilicuetta but I planned on having him for the season. I didn't watch football when Mourinho was last at Stamford Bridge so I didn't realise he would completely dismantle Benitez's team.

One of the problems I had last year was no money so I planned a team for the season, but now I've realised that buying and selling players early on is the way to get the money you need down the line. I do think it is a bone headed system though since it encourages stupid investment and ridiculous price increases such as .1 for Aguero and .4 for Silva who will return far fewer points than the striker.

Will Aguero do well at Stoke? He could probably run under Huth's legs.

Ozil is on 10.0.

On my last visit, 0.9% had bitten.

You lured me into this thread with the promise I could pun away, Godot, it was the least I could do. :)

Sadly I have become infected and have been scouring yesterday's transfers for players who suit my squad's criteria.

A few hours ago you could still buy Bale on there. :O

Update - 2.5% still own Bale, and he's still on the players list.

Are you buying Ozil then, Horseradish?

Tempted to keep with Cazorla, George.

He might have more scope than he has had if things work well.

I have made three desperate changes but none have been to the midfield.

Are you considering him?

Not for the moment, but never say never.

Price fluctuation is one part of the game I ignore, so it'll be interesting to compare our team values around January time. Might be a good differential tactic for you.

3% have taken the early-bird price. Bit dumb really - Arsenal don't play for 10 days and he might get injured in that time.

Who's taken your fancy then? Don't be shy, nobody's gonna pinch your ideas.

Don, Gayle at CP looks like good value. What do you think? How many goals/assists for him this season, and will he still be a regular starter after all your new buys?

Regular starter and a decent prospect for Palace but stay well clear. Your strikers should be PROVEN goalscorers. Fearless machines. Think VP, Benteke and Suarez, i.e. 20-goal-a-season men. Gayle's a work in progress - 10 goals max with few assists. So yes, best to avoid. Probably.

There is a lot of misinformation on the internet as well as reliable advice.

I have read that players brought in at the transfer deadline, ie introduced after the start of the season, have no fluctuations in price moving forward. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not please?

Sounds like bullshit to me.

So when Ozil climbs to 18.5, we can only blame ourselves. :)

On Palace, being my local club, I hope they do well. 4 goals at each end so far - pleasing and worrying.

Thanks, Don. I might be tempted by Gayle at some point, given his price, if it means I can afford a flash Harry midfield player to compensate.

I suppose this season, as it's my first, mid-table mediocrity would be okay, so in typical Spurs fashion, I'll most likely favour style over substance.

VP is a no-no, as he's caused me too much heartache over the years, and Benteke and Suarez don't terribly excite me so far as recruits for the OBP (my team), though I can see they're gifted players and no-brainers for anyone who wants to rack up the points every week.

I want points too, but I'm approaching it all in a slightly more maverick, instinctive way which is most likely doomed to failure, but more fun for me personally. Or at least that's what I've convinced myself. :)

You shouldn't be swayed by cheap prices, George, they're cheap for a reason. Though if you're hell-bent on going down that road, Chamakh at 5.1 is probably a better choice than Gayle.

Funnily enough Chamakh was in my very first line-up, along with Aguero, but neither made it into my final squad selection.

In the MOTD highlights at the weekend against Sunderland, I thought Chamakh seemed a bit anonymous. Were you at that game?
