I can't believe you would fall for all the crap in this song by Sparks:
'Engine' is the classic album, even if the critics name others. 'United Kingdom' 'Mercury' and 'California' next, then 'Everclear', then the most recent.
YT doesn't do Mark Eitzel any favours. He can be brilliant live.
I don't feel that I can give full justice to all of the excellent clips posted by people in the past few days - there are so many - but I will be dipping in as the mood takes me.

Btw, sorry, I forgot the first "The Restless Stranger" which isn't very good and "San Francisco", their last of the 1980s/1990s period before the comeback in 2004-2008. That one is good.
I urge people to consider their CDs. At their best, they convey emotional depth like very few others and often with wry humour. They really are a very special band.

The fundamentalists in Mali, a country with a rich musical tradition going back centuries, are for banning music completely. The same is true of other terrorist organisations.
That is my definition of a living hell. It might though be marginally preferable to X Factor only.

That's probably the most off topic post I have ever seen on here.

The National - Trouble Will Find Me
First listen, and I'm impressed. Their distinctive brooding melancholy as ever, and I much prefer the production on this to their last album, which sounded a bit muddy to me at times. Matt's richly textured voice is very much at the forefront, with the drums a close second. Seem like a strong bunch of songs. Looking forward to getting to know this better.

'Fake Empire' is the one that I know well. Probably their most famous. I will certainly give the other songs a listen. A couple more in very different styles to end the day.
