Attitude to writing Page 2

I forgot who TW was

Hi TW Wave

I never know whether these posts are going to stay on the BCG or be deleted.
But nice to see you Stylee anyway

You're no more than a tart, blahblah. You should choose a nice show and settle down.

I think you are confusing writing and being a writer. You say that people who sub one thing, get it on and then give up will not be writers. But they probably know that anyway. They are hobby writers, and may be more healthier than us, who want to be career writers...

Yes but if you're a hobby gardeners do you grow one strawberry then move onto radishes, potatoes, carrots.
Growing one of each and never trying to learn and develop?

A hobby is a career for fun, so you take it as seriously.

Grow that strawberry till you win the country fair, because the ribbon and kiss from Alan Titmarsh tells you, that you are someone, you are a success.

At work you may be a photocopying drone, little more use than a broken coffee machine.

But in your other life, you are king of the strawberries envy of the other allotment gardeners.

It's about being a caterpillar and a butterfly at once!

(reaches for the insecticide)

You can still eat the strawberry Tim.

Can we just pick one metaphor and stick to it? I'm getting confused.

I vote the whore one.

I don't actually like strawberries. How about a nice marrow?

Are you saying a whore isn't a strawberry too? Where were you on the slut walk???

Didn't know you're a nick Clegg fan

But to continue the analogy we can't all be prize winners, so if we are all going for the prize aren't some of us fooling ourselves?

You don't have to be best in show

You don't have to be a hoe

But if you believe

And strive to achieve

Your brilliance will flow

Seamus Heaney lives!

I am the spirit of William mcgonigal

Thanks for all the comments you have certainly given me a lot to think about. I think a mixture of both things is what I should be aiming for, with emphasis on writing more than I am now

There are a number of the Kirrin Island writing team who have been invited in solely on strength of submitted material. And they're as much part of the team as anyone else now.

And KI has created more opportunities more quickly for us than anyone could possibly have imagined!
