Which one?

Recently started using king of shaves again, as its translucent I can see what my face would look like with differing amounts of facial hair

Like minority report

It's a Wilkinson Sword Hydro or something.

I find the gillette blue disposable ones are great for shaving the rough skin of my feet

F**king hell.
That kind of post needs a warning first. Sick

Sadly the PGCE year is more like work than going to uni. It was quite a shock to me - having done a History degree - to have to spend more than two hours a day in uni. And then there's the teaching part. Teary

But I'm sure you'll love it Scats!!

Sadly with all due respect to Robyn, I'm not at all sure that anyone under 30 years old should be allowed to be a teacher of children. They simply do not have enough experience of the world and of commerce etc. If the potential teacher was also taught by teachers trained young, the education system spirals down into teaching basic facts without teaching real-world living at all.

You end up with this mad system of education as we have now where the prime aim is to teach kids to pass exams instead of teaching them how to be worthwhile, self confident, people.

Sick Eh? :S

Robyn will be a wonderful teacher.
I think it's good for kids to have both older and younger teachers. I don't spend any time in schools at the moment so I've no idea what the usual age spread is, I'm sure there's a mix though.
I had older and younger teachers, but to be honest, even when I was 13/14, I didn't see a massive difference between a 23 year old teacher and one in their mid 40s. They were all just old to me.

Disagree with this. It's not about age, it's about aptitude and passion. My sister has just been telling me about her plans for her classroom next year - she has some great ideas and the children that she will teach will be very fortunate.

Over a school career, children will have old teachers, young teachers and in-between teachers. They will learn about different people through having different teachers.

Plus, if you don't let them in until they are 30, you are depriving them of the experience they gain from early years teaching.

Agree, but this isn't the fault of teachers. This is the fault of the comfortably middle aged Michael Gove.

And he does deserve a Sick face!

Also meant to mention, who's to say older teachers are the only ones who can teach kids to be "worthwhile, self confident, people"? I don't really see how that follows at all.

I know several younger teachers, and they're all very keen to give the kids self confidence and self worth and all that business.

I held a tarantula and didn't cry or anything. I also stroked a barn owl.

Flooded the kitchen this morning.

Is exactly why you are wrong :D

The majority of my more "mature" teachers were simply not open to new ideas. Their ideas, general knowledge and enthusiasm for the job and it's evolution stopped after their first few years of teaching. It's not really fair to generalize so I will stop right there.

The best way for new teachers to learn is directly through experience. Most teachers are in that mindset of being teachers since they were at school themselves anyway. All the teachers I've ever known have wanted to be teachers their whole lives.
