Nicholas Lyndhurst Interview

Not sure if this has been posted or even if I am posting it in the right place but it is an interview from Nicholas Lyndhurst saying how OFAH would never be made today etc. To be honest I am stuck in a time warp when it comes to sitcoms and find it very hard to find a good sitcom nowadays
Have a read and see what you think

Interesting to see that he turned down The Full Monty. I imagine every actor has a similar story though.

Thanks for the article. Agree with most of what he said.

I also agree with you, I'm a "retro person" too...

"Denzil" (P. Barber) was in that though...would have been a mini reunion.

Paul Barber is an underrated actor.

All of the OFAH were good but then again I am totally biased. The only one who seemed a bit dodgy at times was Mickey Pearce but then again it could have been the drugs.
I saw him once near my house in Forest Hill and he looked a right state

A good article from the Mirror. He was so ideal as Rodney that I could never fully take to him in anything else. It was as if he was naturally born with that accent.

Was it Buster Merryfield who used to sleep in people's gardens or that bald headed guy in Benny Hill? The latter was another who my old Nan would see regularly.

Agree on the "Talent" shows. Few seem to see the contradictions in post 1960s liberalism, which is positive 50% of the time, and the parallel Victorian Freakshow obsessions. The only slight philosophical connection is less censorship and that ain't good enough.

I have been left gobsmacked at times and find it very depressing. It is like The Elephant Man had never been made. Required time in Belgian trenches would sort it.

Some contributors above are saying they are retro. I'm largely retro on comedy. Not exclusively - 80%? But I do like a bit of so-called modern art and will always be ongoing musically a la Peel. A nightmare for those who draw up lists of consumer categories. Brilliant!

I found him watchable in Goodnight Sweetheart but I enjoyed that series. I actually never liked him in Rock & Chips (then again I never liked Rock & Chips much) as it was too weird seeing him as someone else if you know what I mean. I am actually going to start a thread one day about recommendations for sitcoms as I have basically washed my hands of British sitcoms and find myself almost totally watching American.
I could never ever watch him in a drama though

Welcome to the site. I mainly agree.

Thanks and "you know it makes sense"

Nice avatar. "Brace yourself Rodney, brace yourself!"

Thanks, I feel like I have found my spiritual home as none of my friends really get my OFAH obsession, they definitely do not understand why I have an injunction against me from Sir David Jason.

only one of the above is not true

What a prat! Slagging off a show (New Tricks) that he hasn't yet been seen on!

I haven't seen that clip in ages but the bit that easily makes me laugh the most is the next bit, where Trigger looks around to see where Del Boy's gone. Laughing out loudx100

I can't understand how Roger Lloyd-Pack could do the scene withoutcracking up. :D
