What are you eating? Page 638

I'm trying to find the details of a place that you might love. You walk into what looks like an ordinary office tower block, sign in quietly by the lifts, and then go downstairs.

The expectation is of a normal basement. What you get instead is authentic Little Italy. Pasta and pizzas, Italian waiters, a lot of people. It's totally bizarre - and also great.

That sounds perfect :)

It's called something like Sinatras but it isn't that name. By the Thames, south side, not far from Westminster/Waterloo. There's no sign of it at all from the outside. You have to know it to know it but it isn't exclusive. And it's definitely more genuinely Italian in feel than a standard Italian restaurant.

When I remember the name, I will post details for you. :)

I've found it:

You might need to check as I see there is a place of the same name just off Oxford Street. I really hope it hasn't moved as it is the weird location that is special. I'd give the food 7.5 out of 10. Value for money 9. As you will see from the picture, it doesn't look like anything from the street but that's the point.

Thanks Horseradish! I might be meeting a friend for dinner tonight, so I will definitely suggest we go there, it looks great.

Thanks for finding the details for me. You are such a sweetie :)

Jennie, no problem. Do check though because I think they have odd hours. It might be more of a daytime thing. I've always been at lunchtime.

Do you know Bradleys Bar? That's a weird place. Tiny and central. It is supposed to be Spanish and they used to have old Latin American records from the 1960s on a jukebox. The staff, though, tend to be Thai and there is also a bit of Irish in it too. Occasionally you get someone walking in with a guitar impromptu.

Best in the daytime or for a quick evening meet before going somewhere else, ie concerts. It can get packed later but it is a good alternative to all the usual plastic places. Worth doing at least once. I think the negative aspects in the review are very overstated. It isn't seedy - or, from memory, smelly - just unique.

Boiling cabbage.

I'm now on the M25 after Scotland.

Terrible shock.

Will grab a quick sandwich soon.

For dinner, I had a really nice Tesco Finest pizza with some extra salami on top.
