Thanks George. That's v helpful.
Now all Carlos needs to do is splice in Joe Buck hallucinating at the party and having wild sex with Shirley after playing Scribbage.
Good to see a mug of tea in the clip too.

Do they have toilet paper ads? I would say they were more comparable to tampon ads than condom ads are. Tampons are nothing to do with sex or smut.

Germany now - or Britain then? Gordon will do the first. The Andrex puppy was here from the early 1970s and chosen very carefully. It was brilliant. That is why it has lasted. It was more discrete, then, of course.
I'd say that tampons and condoms are both best categorised as health products but at the time Britain's mainly male rulers would have had problems with tampons. Not so much sex or smut but that they regarded them as wholly unmentionable. The nature of the functions helped them. Most people have to indicate if they need to use the toilet. Women were expected to manage their own 'unusual' affairs without comment.
We still have ads for toilet paper, medicine against foot fungus etc.
But ads for women's hygene products and condoms simply seem to have disappeared in the 00s here in Switzerland and Germany. Maybe it's only my perception, maybe I'm not watching that much TV like I used to.
And zooo, see, I put the word smut in ""s...sometimes I like to speak through my 13 years old sexually repressed persona despite being a sad 36 year old git in reality. But only for fun. So don't take my words literally (not always).

Tim Buckley?
We see tampon ads all day here.
I only object to ads that graphically show gross things bodies do. Like close-ups of people having horrible feet, or showing some sort of CGI earwax. Bleh. Oh, and I find most nappy ads a bit gross, but mainly because of the endless kissing and nuzzling of babies bums. Mums in ads are weird...
We hardly get any condom ads, there has been one lately (only on in the evenings) but before that I don't think I'd seen one for ages.

Both great...especially the Undertones one.
By the way, this is my favourite Feargal Sharkey solo song:

That's not a music video. It's a film!
Those 1980s ones have life. Joyous and inventive. Less obviously sales based. So much now seems churned.
To my mind, though, the picture quality in that decade was a lot worse than it is now and somehow less atmospheric than in earlier film. It'd be nice if modern technology could be used to reduce the graininess.
Btw, I occasionally tried to play snooker in a similar place. It was described as a sign of a "misspent youth"!

Biffy Clyro - Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies
This is the greatest documentary I have ever seen. It's called "Your Father's Murderer - A Letter to Zachary" and is just powerful, compelling, heartbreaking film making.
I first watched it a couple of years ago and frequently come back to it. It really is mind blowing.
