Welcome Kat. But why do you assume this? Life would surely evolve in different ways.

Actually, I phrased that a bit wrong. I should have mentioned that I was talking about the assumption made by people on this forum about the whole 'air+water=life' thing being a load of utter tosh. *Headdesk* Sorry. I'm a fool.
And I'll head right over to introduce myself now.
Quote: Bad dog @ February 14, 2008, 7:43 PMI'm a keen reader of books on UFOs, and am reading one at the moment.
Ever read Project Blue Book?
Quote: Kat Hexslipper @ February 14, 2008, 8:08 PMIf these aliens can travel, as people think, at the speed of light and are so advanced, why do they spend all their time visiting this poor excuse for a planet, stealing, butchering, and sucking the blood from, cattle and other farmyard animals?
Yeah, but think about it. There'd obviously be millions of them. Infinite universes and galaxies out there. Even if just one planet was spending "all their time", then it'd be so regular there'd be no doubt, surely?

No, is that classified?

But from most of the sightings/ abduction accounts, the aliens seem to be the same two races - grey, large eyes, 3 feet tall - I think they're referred to as 'Greys' now, and beings that look like humans but are around 7 or 8 feet tall, or both on the same craft.
I call them grays.
I SAW A DINOSAUR TONIGHT.
It was big & angry & throbbing. It was a good 91/2 ".
It was a cockOsaurous!
From what I've read, the greys are the workers, and aliens that look like a preying mantis are above them in the hierarchy. The human looking ones are hybrid alien/humans - these are the so-called "men in black" that people have reported seeing. Allegedly!
Also, from what I recall, I think Project blue book pushed the official government line: people are seeing weather balloons, swamp gas, the planet venus, etc.
You can't imagine the unimaginable.
An alien that could defeat the physical laws that prevent us breaching our solar system, would be beyond our ability to perceive.
It would be like cockroaches viewing a motorway.
They could be here and we wouldn't even know. Too them we might be little more than a dung beatle learning to roll dung.
Or more likely Aboriginess wandering why the funny pale people keep shooting them, and making them sick.
Sooty I struggle sometimes to imagine the imaginable.
If they are so advanced why do they turn up in shabby unreliable craft that crash, and why do they ALWAYS forget to press the invisibility button when flying over populated areas?
To make pleas to our lack of knowledge or to grant the aliens special dispensation over physical laws means that anyone can propound a theory and then say to detractors "Yes, but that's because we don't know enough about it" The onus of proof should be on those who break from the current knowledge we have, not vice versa.
What unites the West (supposedly) is the War on Terror. What is the only thing that will eventually unite the world? The ultimate War on Terror. Mankind uniting under a dictatorship, throwing away their hard-won democracy in exchange for security, to defeat the evil nasties who are coming to get us.
The reason such an advanced race is making it so obvious we are being observed is because whoever THEY are want us to believe we are being observed. We live in a land of smoke and mirrors, more Oz than planet Earth. That the reason why they come is unknown only adds to the fear and insecurity. I suspect that the 'they' are just power mad humans.
This thread is really good, btw, and has inspired me to begin planning a new novel.

Perhaps you'd like to rephrase that a bit?
Quote: SlagA @ February 10, 2008, 6:50 PMCurt, I wrote a novel incorporating string theory and the schroedinger's cat paradox. I love love love it.
go on then, give us a clue? Cats and string and stuff. I love science and math, find it interesting but I'm a retard so don't understand any of it.
