The Café - Series 1 Page 5

There wasn't many good jokes in there I laughed the odd once or twice just about that.

Is there any further news on when Series 2 is due to air?

I know its been filmed as when I went down to Weston Super Mare last July they were filming the series! It's beginning to annoy me why Sky still haven't shown the second series yet!

Likely this Autumn.

Eh? Why such a long wait! Angry

For a time-slot they feel beneficial for the programme.

To be honest, I agree with all the criticisms of this show. But, PBS put it in a time slot where I was almost forced to watch it or get involved in an hour long show on a another channel and miss the next Britcom. I kept thinking, "what's this show about"? But the characters grew on me and the plot/s began to jell and I found myself enjoying it and now looking forward to next season.

Side note. I don't get HD on cable, but bought a new TV tuner card for my PC that has ATSC capability. I could then get PBS in HD for free on a homemade antenna. Just in time for the full seasons of Hebburn and The Cafe. The only two Britcoms aired in HD in this area.

I do quite like The Cafe but it's by no means laugh out loud but the first series was very watchable.

Any of you who are wondering when Series 2 is due to start?

The Cafe Series 2 will begin for an 8 week run in July.

Thanks for the info!

Glad for the fans in Britain. Hopefully, that means we Americans might get to see it next spring. Curious to see what the writers come up with. Ownership of the cafe has been secured. What challenge will be next? What ever, we won't be on the edge of our seats but, fans will probably tune in for each next episode.

No problem. Whilst I admit that The Cafe is not one of the funniest of shows, it is rather watchable and enjoyable. It will be nice to finally see the second series. It's taken them a while to get it ready for broadcast as when I visited Weston Super Mare last July 2012 they were filming Series 2 then. Glad to see it starting soon!

Loving Season One. I live in Canada but watch via Detroit. I hope the show comes to Buffalo or Ontario so more here can enjoy it!
It is such an escape, I feel like I am really in a small town by the sea if only for half an hour on a Saturday night.
The leads are so darling and the tone is clever but sweet.

To those who find this unfunny or boring please be aware there is a button or two on the television set that allow you to turn it off or turn it over.

But please don't assume that because you don't find something funny that it is not.

My guess would be you have no sense of humour.

Should I have read this thread just a couple of hours prior to watching Series 1 for the first time? Probable not. I'm on my biased way now, but, nevertheless, will still watch with a clear and open mind.
My idea is that one, that is I, must watch the best, the worst and the lukewarm, to be ale to distinguish between one another and not make the same mistakes or improve on them when writing.

... or something like that.

Just happened upon this sitcom from BBC on Hulu. It is so refreshing compared to the garbage that calls itself comedy TV here in the states. I used Google Map to "drive around" town and saw all the sights: Grand Pier, the beach, some of the town shops. What a lovely town you all live in there in Weston-super-Mare.
