Wilco are supposed to be in one of "my categories" but I've never got them. The same with Calexico. But that track, which I hadn't heard, is very good indeed. Good to see Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds too.

I've seen both bands in concert...Wilco here in Basel and Calexico a few kilometres away in Germany. Both great live bands.

If you want to "get" Wilco I'd recommend the album "Sky Blue Sky" (which the song I posted is from). Sonically earthier than the albums before...more in line with the Neil Young/Crazy Horse sound. It's probably my favourite Wilco album.

Maybe I will get to see one. On Switzerland, have never been to Basel. However, did 26 weeks in total across 6 years at UN, Geneva. Only a bag carrier really. Well, a bit more. A very long time ago now.

Funnily enough...I once did my military service in Geneva years ago. We had to protect the Israeli embassy. (Sorry Aaron, I know I'm off topic!)

Another song from the same album (Sky Blue Sky):

Oh right. You are Swiss? Your English is faultless.

(Can you add another song or something too to keep this on topic?) :)

You're too kind. Im (relatively) good at writing short sentences. But the longer the post, the higher the cringe-factor.

That is one of their best.

I thought I'd have a day soon of songs that Gordon might like but am "clocking off" early tonight.

Here come those wildlife pictures............

Similarly majestic but without the stunning animal pictures, Scott Walker's "Montague Terrace":

Whenever you post a 10cc album sleeve, it always reminds me of the Candyman chant, except that in this case the "C" man you're summoning is Chappers. :)

Actually, I prefer this version to the Daft Punk original. I never liked the original but with this arrangement and this voice it makes more sense.

Thanks! I think it's pretty good too. :)

So Mr B........

I don't own any Yes records but saw them at Glastonbury. Have always loved "Song of Seven":

Jon Anderson - Some Are Born

.......and also

Field Music - Lights Up

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUjPJk6Tjls

The North East delivers again. Not overly keen on the lyrics but musically it's one of their best.

......and a couple by Welsh rockers Man -

C'mon (Live) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LWEy2jwOY0

Grasshopper - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWiC1XgZX1Q

Liked both...didn't know the second one, Field Music. Must check them out more thoroughly.

As we seem to be in a mellow mood, here this Durutti Column classic:

Saw/heard MAN in a BBC 4 program for the first time a few weeks ago. It was about "British Guitar rock in the 70s".

Another mellow song by the German band Blumfeld:
