Just discovered a new French band. Nice name! Shame about the music.

The George Kaplan Conspiracy - Phoenix & Rapsodie

Not bad. Depeche Mode, New Order etc are obviously the influences.

You're too kind.

Actually I like it but then these were always a favourite:

New Musik - Churches

......and when I was working in a certain mountainous country, this was always on the TV:

Laurent Voulzy - Paradoxal Systeme

Continuing my theme of picking things for their names rather than quality, here's one for our great leader.

Finally managed to order the first two Big Star albums. These belong in every serious record collecton.

I'm sorry but I just can;t get excited about them.

Just got a recent (I think it's 2007ish) B52s album. Funplex. Really good.

I'm not that enthusiastic about them either...in general I'm not the biggest fan of what the "insiders" call power-pop. But Big Star is often listed as one of the great unknown bands...and I have a "best of" compilation that contains some great songs (September Gurls, Back of a Car etc.). So I felt I needed their albums (luckily there are not so many of them).

By the way, I have Funplex too...it's always a pleasure to hear Kate Pierson sing.

Strangely compelling cover from the soundtrack to a movie about a great leader:

I think that is one of the best things you have posted. Have noted that the soundtrack also includes Khaled, Souad Massi and Ali Hussan Kuban. They are all pretty good.

The Baron Cohens are remarkably talented and the film sounds interesting. I tend to see things like "The Truman Show" as multi-dimensional, whether it is designed or not, so would probably really enjoy it.

I'm on lighter novelties today. Degrees of humour and seriousness are for individual interpretation.

But MC Rai gives me the opportunity to mention Eurovision for what will be the only time. One performance outweighs all the others in its history put together. It is this one. The song is composed by Wasis Diop:

Amina Annabi - C'est Le Dernier Qui A Parle Qui A Raison

Very good!

An amazing range of hand movements too, almost like watching a hand-ballet.

hand-ballet.

That sounds rude to me! ;)
