Uncle Funkenstein - Uncle Funkenstein

Quote: Gordon Bennett @ August 6 2013, 9:02 AM BST

Two great American songs of the 60s:

Still In Love With You - Beau Brummels

How Can I Be Sure - The Rascals

I love John Cale. The arrangements are often very innovative and complex...but the songs themselves are damn catchy at the same time.

Beau Brummels live CD in my local charity shop for £1.99. Should I buy it?

I was aware of them at the time without actually knowing anything by them.

This Shaun Murphy is a force of nature...and a Bonnie Raitt sound-alike.

Excellent stuff! That's a great find, Gordon!

Uncle Funkenstein - Uncle Funkenstein

Nice swing and groove there!

Good stuff. You know those songs that people love but feel they should merely like? Morrisons just got even better. This morning, they played my favourite Alligator Lizards in the Air song. It's an 11 out of 10 from me.
Normal service will resume shortly.

America - Ventura Highway

But Geez, that's a bright front cover!

Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

If I order it by mail, I'll make sure I'm wearing my shades when I open the package!

Let's hope and pray that the producers of Sharknado aren't reading your post. ;)

Wasn't on BCG for the sad news about JJ Cale, but here's Mama Don't- I don't usually like live versions but it suits this song :)

Funny cos a few hours ago I was thinking how I can't remember spotting any Van songs here. And now Gordon obliges!

I'm a huge Van fan. I think he has the best record (no pun intended) in terms of the quality of his vast output over the years. He rarely disappoints.

I love him in "The Last Waltz", absolute tour de force.

Best of Clive Gregson (Any Trouble main man)bought from my fave shop. British Heart Foundation and looks like it may even be signed.

Van Morrison would be in my Top 3 bands/artists of all time. "Common One" is one of his best albums.

Love "Summertime in England", "Haunts of Ancient Peace" and "Wild Honey".
