I shouldn't bother, mate, it's an absolute shit-hole.
And the food's terrible.

...and ugly women!
I bought S1 on DVD partially because of the magnificent scenery, partially because it was very funny and partially because it was only $2.
I'll watch Series 2 in Italy but doubt I'd buy it.

It always reminds me of Rik Mayall doing Leonard Rossiter in an episode of Bottom

Haha, great reference.

I am finding it a lot funnier on the second watch.
I liked the 3rd episode a lot. Even had to laugh when they spoke about their age.
Brydon: "Don't you find it exhausting still leading that life at your age...going to parties, taking drugs, chasing girls?"
Coogan: "I'm not chasing them...I'm not Benny Hill"
I really do love this series after catching the reruns and I'm glad it's returning but I have now stopped watching the Friday night series reruns as I have now bought the DVD.
Quote: Ben @ August 3 2013, 3:53 PM BSTI liked the depressing British landscapes.
I love them. Amazing mountain sceneries in the 3rd episode. Much more beautiful than tropical beaches.
Quote: Aaron @ July 17 2011, 12:39 PM BSTComing Of Age not returning is a frustrating and perplexing decision.
The recommission of The Trip is depressing.
Personally I find it depressing that a moderator of a forum dedicated to British comedy can denigrate shows like The Trip and The Office but praise shows like Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps...
Subjective taste is wonderful, isn't it?
(Impossible to denigrate a production as woeful as The Trip, BTW.)
I like the Trip AND Two Pints. There's quality in both. I'm not familiar with the series of Coming of Age but the pilot was excellent.
The Trip's juxtaposition of failure with the petite mort of fine dining is pure genius, but it's a mood piece and possibly appeals more to viewers around the age of the protagonists.
Twenty-somethings don't have any regrets or career to reflect on, after all.

That part is true. I was expecting this
But it's mostly this
I've just re-watched this on DVD after initially viewing it back when it was broadcast back in 2010. The scenery's amazing, the banter between Coogan and Brydon often hits comedy gold, but generally the whole thing felt far too long and ponderous. I hadn't initially made the link between Coogan's ex-girlfriend Mischa and her earlier appearance in Michael Winterbottom's '9 Songs'.
