It was probably the Imagined Village which took me to Chris Wood. An internet pal originally sent me that link. It's a favourite. I've fallen way behind on this thread today. Will need to catch up soon. I did, though, spot Rotary Connection who were produced by the great Charles Stepney. While not in favour of over-reaching histrionics, I've always liked natural vocal range. Minnie Riperton, who was in RC, is my all-time number one female soul singer. These two songs are both by her and from the early-mid sixties:
