Any Excuse

Autopsy scenario

The surgeon is pulling pieces of paper from the corpse and holding them to the light.

We see handwriting that reads
'The main reason for the Enclosure Acts'

The surgeon then looks across to a viewing window and issues thumbs up to a man in a cap gown and mortar board.

This man turns round and speaks to a young boy in a school uniform who is sitting on a chair crying.

MAN
"Very well Tompkins it would seem that you were in fact telling the truth"

BOY
"I can't believe you've killed my dog"

I had to read it twice before I got it. It's a clever idea, but I find it very difficult to laugh at stories which suggest cruelty to dogs. Daft, I know, but I'm terribly sentimental. It would have worked better for me if somebody had fished the piece of paper out of a dog turd.

Let me assure you as a dog owner that no dogs were injured during my writing this sketch.

Thats very clever, one that requires the penny to drop and is all the funnier for it.

Nice one.

That rather tickled me.

That's your best for ages, Teddy, great stuff.

Very good Teddy.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Me too. A mental double take at the end before I got it. Would be interested to see how it filmed.

hahah!!! This is the great. As an 'occasional' actor, if I got this script I would be very psyched to do it.

Great stuff!

Lovely.

Like this one too Teddy.
Good stuff!
I wonder if the visible writing could be simpler to convey the homework angle
Especially as it's an excuse more associated with a younger pupil
