Jo Brand's Great Wall Of Comedy Page 2

I like Jo Brand, Rebecca Front and Barry Cryer, but I thought this show was incredibly weak. Very twee anecdotes (which seemed to end without any real punchlines) and lousy editing. They showed a clip of Rebecca Front doing the Abba medley on KMKY but only showed the opening part, rather than the build up to the big laughs at the end of the routine. And some random clip of Hugh Dennis in My Hero, could they really not find any stronger clips with him in?
They even had a round entirely based on people just putting on silly wigs.
I also thing Getting On is one of the best comedies of the last 10 years.
Can't say I was too keen on the studio scenes but the clips were rather interesting. On the whole, an enjoyable little show!
I quite enjoyed it. I think Ronnie Corbett or David Jason should go on there. Better than HIGNFY.
I enjoyed tonight's episode, I preferred the studio scenes too but I think it was because it had better guests! Nice little show.
Great episode tonight. I hope it gets a 2nd series!

Let Series 1 finish first, David!
Not a bad little series, to be honest. But there's no point getting your hopes for a second series because anything UKTV Gold ever does never gets a second run!
Gold should do a second series but they won't do though.
Is there some kind of unwritten rule that Barry Cryer has to feature on any TV comedy critique/talking heads type discussion? I think I have seen him on about 7-8 different comedy documentaries in recent months, ranging from Bob Monkhouse to Tommy Cooper and Kenny Everett.
It seems to have been a decent watch what I have seen of it, albeit it really is just serving as filler in Gold's schedule.
Not so much an unwritten rule as one of the few people left alive who have worked with the greats - and worked with all of them, and have enough charisma to be on TV telling the stories.

I disagree. Give it a second series as soon as.
I imagine (not being able to see it) Baz is giving the writer's POV as well as the performers.

Well, you won't see a second series because GOLD appear never to re-commission anything they produce!
Any chance of me seeing series 1, though...?

Yes when GOLD repeat it again. I.e. never!
