Zeta One trivia
Zeta One is based on a short story that first appeared in ZETA Magazine.
'Angvia' is an anagram of 'vagina'.
Central character James Word is believed to be named in reference to James Bond, the film series of which was at the height of its success in 1969, and the phrase "my word is my bond".
The film was shot over a five-week period in January and February 1969, with a budget of only £60,000.
Zeta One was so named as it was intended to be just the first in a series of spin-offs from ZETA Magazine's stories.
Charles Hawtrey's role was initially offered to Frankie Howerd.
Imogen Hassall was initially cast as one of the Angvians but withdrew from the project shortly before filming began.
Scenes in which James Word explains the caper to, unknowingly, one of the Angvians in his flat, were added after production had completed, in order to pad the film's length and explain its convoluted plot to audiences.
