The Raisin at film festivals
Comedian Rob Carter's short comedy drama film has been selected to be screened at a number of prestigious film festivals.
The Raisin, which was written by Carter and is his directorial debut, is described as "a rural romance centred around the story of one raisin." Starring Game Of Thrones actor Trevor Allan Davies and and BAFTA-nominated Helen Ryan, the story looks at the effect loneliness can have on a person when they are finally met with the opportunity for companionship.
The film will have its World Premiere at the LA Comedy Festival on 5 May 2017 in Los Angeles.
The visually stunning comedy drama has also been accepted into the Cannes Film Festival Court Métrage (Short Film Corner) and thus will be available in the digital library as well as screening booths during the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The Raisin has also been selected to be part of the 2017 Creative Minds Festival de Cannes Programming Block. It is one of just thirty films from the hundreds of submissions to be selected to be part of this event.
It has also been selected as part of the Miami Independent Film Festival too.
Sara Shulman, who produced the short with Tom Holloway, says: "The Raisin is a beautiful film and we are so pleased that it has entertained and received support from the international film festival community."
Rob Carter adds: "The inspiration for this film came when I was on crutches, 3 months after a road accident, hobbling into my living room with my dinner spilling in a plastic bag swinging from each crutch, and I'm delighted to see that it's now being enjoyed by people outside my living room as well."
