The Green Man trivia
Launder and Gilliat adapted The Green Man's screenplay from their own stage play Meet A Body, staged in an earlier version as The Body Was Well-Nourished.
Alastair Sim was the real director of the film: able to demand so under the threat of leaving the production, Launder and Gilliat having written the film for him. Not a member of the directors' union, long negotiations were undertaken and experienced camera operator Robert Day was given the title, working with Sim on the production. However, once production was under way, strains between Sim, Launder and Gilliat became strained and production manager Basil Dearden was brought in to further assist in a supervisory role.
