Basil Radford leads the wonderful star cast in The Galloping Major, freshly restored in high definition and available to own on DVD, digital and Blu-ray for the first time ever, from 8th August.

From an idea by Radford himself and also starring Jimmy Hanley, Janette Scott and A.E. Matthews, with Joyce Grenfell, Hugh Griffith, Sydney Tafler and others, the story follows a group of friends who form a syndicate to purchase a racehorse.

Naturally they think their endeavour will be a smooth one, but problems begin to occur very quickly. However, it seems their new steed may just be a winner waiting for an owner with the belief to see it through. That is if they can keep hold of him long enough!

Available now to pre-order, the 1951 comedy has been lovingly restored for this debut release, and also includes a feature about filming locations, an interview with cultural historian Matthew Sweet about the film, and stills gallery.

Directed by Henry Cornelius (Passport To Pimlico) and produced by Monja Danischewsky (The Battle Of The Sexes), the pair also wrote The Galloping Major's screenplay.

Part of the Romulus Films archive catalogue now owned by STUDIOCANAL, it will be released on Monday 8th August 2022 and we have two copies to give away to lucky winners in the format of their choice, standard definition DVD or high definition Blu-ray.
