The Assassination Bureau Limited is inspired by a book of the same title by Jack London and Robert Fish. London had in turn been sold the idea for the book by Sinclair Lewis in 1910. London had abandoned and not completed the novel before his death in 1916, and it was finished by Fish and published in 1963.
