Jack Kenyon may look significantly younger than his years, but the fresh-faced 17 year-old serviceman has put in exemplary duty on his army duty so far, and is swiftly promoted to Lance Corporal - very fitting, as he's begun a relationship with the camp adjutant's pretty young daughter.
Honest, eager, funny and friendly to all, his manner has unfortunately rubbed fellow young recruit Bert up the wrong way, and the jealous lad's mood is soured further when their comrades discover Jack's budding romance!
Meanwhile, the newest recruits are attempting to find their feet but regularly getting into muddles, mischief and mix-ups of their own; perhaps none more so than the peculiar Private Randle, who, conversely to Kenyon, looks older than his years and has just become a father for the first time.
Kenyon and Smith's rivalry continues to simmer, and they soon face each other in the boxing ring. It's an even match, but one man has to come out on top, and yet the victor looks set to also come a cropper and miss out on the camp's highly-anticipated upcoming concert.
