Causing trouble on camp again, Private Frank Randle is sent by the commanding officer, Colonel Tyldesley, for a medical - and the doctor doesn't hesitate to decide there's something seriously wrong with him and he must be discharged!
Frank is, to say the least, delighted, and makes no delay in heading back to civilian life, although his change in status is significantly less helpful to his niece, Mary, who has fallen for Tyldesley's son Ralph and hopes to secure a marriage proposal imminently!
However, unbeknownst to Frank, his troubles could be only just starting now he's left the services. A recently deceased uncle has left him his entire fortune - around £50,000 - but a cousin also has an interest in the will: particularly if he can prove that Frank is not of sound mind...
