Private Jack Trevor is an expert in bombs and in love with camp C.O. Colonel Rivers's daughter, Jean. He'd prefer she goes with a more fitting man, a captain, and sends her away to work as a nurse and consider her feelings.

Lovelorn, Jack goes to visit her and arrives just after an air raid. A UXB is in a large crater outside the hospital and, inspired to put Jean out of danger, he ignores warnings, jumps into the pit and removes the device's detonator single-handed.

When news of his bravery breaks, Colonel Rivers realises what a fine chap Jack is and Jean realises just how much she loves him.
