- Jack Whitehall, Jennifer Saunders and Sally Phillips are amongst the actors joining Timothy Spall and Lily Allen on the cast list
Filming is underway in Newcastle on new comic film Virginia Woolf's Night & Day.
Based on the 1919 novel by the celebrated 20th century modernist author, the film is described as an "unromantic comedy" about a passionate astronomer who does everything she can to avoid romantic love and marriage.
The producers explain: "Set in an era when glass ceilings were made of concrete, Haley Bennett will play Katharine Hilbery - one woman who insisted on reaching for the stars.
"Based on what has been called Woolf's funniest novel, Night & Day is contemporary in tone; the story of Katharine's bold challenge to the Edwardian patriarchy is set against the backdrop of the suffragette movement and advances in science and technology, at the turn of the 20th century".
Timothy Spall, Lily Allen and Elyas M'Barek have key roles in the film and it's now been revealed they'll be joined by an ensemble cast that includes Jack Whitehall, Jennifer Saunders and Sally Phillips.
Other cast members on set include Misia Butler, Alex Macqueen, Simon Phillips and Frances Barber.
Virginia Woolf's Night & Day has been adapted for the screen by Justine Waddell and is directed by BAFTA nominee Tina Gharavi.
It is expected to be shown in cinemas in 2025.
