Fat Friends, the comedy drama that ran on ITV from 2000 to 2005, look set to become a film in 2024.
The Sun reports that the planned movie will focus on the lives of slimming club members, much like the TV series created by the late Kay Mellor did.
Gaynor Faye, who played Lauren Harris in all four series of the show, revealed on Channel 4 show Steph's Packed Lunch: "We're revisiting the characters and it's really exciting. Hopefully we're shooting it next year."
Future Gavin & Stacey stars Ruth Jones, James Corden and Alison Steadman were amongst the original cast, and The Sun suggests they have been approached to reprise their roles.
A source told the newspaper: "James and Ruth on screen again is the reunion everyone wants, albeit not Gavin & Stacey. The cast were all approached about filming a movie version - an early script has been written, and is ready to go.
"If it gets the green light, James will reprise his role as Jamie Rymer, while Ruth will play Kelly Chadwick again.
"The film would also be a huge tribute to Kay who helped change so many of the cast's lives. They all would love to do something to thank her for her brilliance. It's still early days but a very exciting project."
