Imelda Staunton & Celia Imrie lead OAP dance comedy cast
- Imelda Staunton and Celia Imrie will star in Finding Your Feet as estranged sisters
- The pair are reunited after the revelation of an extra-marital affair, and join an OAP dancing group
- Timothy Spall, Joanna Lumley and David Hayman will also feature
Imelda Staunton and Celia Imrie are to star in new comedy film Finding Your Feet.
The feature tells the story of Sandra (Staunton), whose world is turned upside-down when, on the cusp of a blissful retirement, she discovers her husband has been having an affair with her best friend.
Embarrassed by her situation, the resolutely middle-class Sandra seeks refuge with her estranged, bohemian sister Bif (Imrie) on an impoverished council estate in London. Reluctantly she joins in with Bif's dance class, where she soon begins rebuilding her confidence, and finding the potential for new romance.
Also announced as joining the cast are Joanna Lumley, Timothy Spall and David Hayman.
Written by Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft, the British comedy hopes to follow in the success of the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films, targeting and revitalising cinema audiences amongst the so-called "grey pound" or "silver dollar", older age demographic.
The most recent film in this vein, low-budget production Golden Years, about a group of OAPs who decide to top up their pension pots by robbing banks, was released earlier this year.
Finding Your Feet will be filmed in London, at Twickenham Studios, and on location in Rome, during November and December. It will be released in Britain by Entertainment One, likely during 2017.
