Stars Liam Neeson and Micheál Richardson are not only real-life father-and-son, but also experienced a similar bereavement of their wife/mother. Natasha Richardson died in 2009 after sustaining head injuries whilst skiing; Micheál was 13 at the time, rather than 7 as is Jack's age in the film.
