Chicken Town: First-look pictures
First-look images have been revealed for Chicken Town, a new film due to be released theatrically this summer.
The movie tells the story of two schoolfriends (Ethaniel Davy and Amelie Davies) who join forces with a green-fingered grandad (John Shuttleworth star Graham Fellows) to fence a shed full of marijuana that the old man has accidentally grown on his allotment.
Speaking to British Comedy Guide, director, writer and producer Richard Bracewell says: "I'm really excited to be bringing this feelgood British comedy to the big screen. It's a blend of youth and experience, teaming the brilliant Graham Fellows with rising stars from the Television Workshop.
"I'd love to be able to say that Chicken Town is a metaphor for the abuse of power by elites; but that would be labouring the point. It's the story of some kids who grow some weed on their neighbour's allotment and get into trouble trying to fence it in a Little Chef car park."
The film also features Horrible Histories and Ghosts star Laurence Rickard as a conspiracy-theorist mechanic who tries to warn the unlikely trio against taking on the criminal family who control the town's drug supply.
The movie, shot entirely on location in the Fens, is directed by Richard Bracewell, who oversaw the original Horrible Histories cast's comedy feature, Bill. The script was co-written with Patrick Dalton, author of the Shit London toilet book series.
Also featured in the cast are Alistair Green, Everett Gaskin, Hugo Carter and Ramy Ben Fredj.
A release date and trailer for Chicken Town will be revealed in due course.
