On the eve of their wedding, Linda is out on her hen night with the girls, while Dave is on his stag night with the boys. Meanwhile, local-lad-made-good Peter McGeghan is back in Liverpool with his band, currently at number 29 in the singles charts. The band are playing at local club Bransky's - and both Linda and Dave and their friends end up at the club that night. Linda is an old flame of Peter's, and she's having doubts about getting married.

Adapted by Willy Russell from his stage play Stags And Hens.
