Carry On Cruising trivia
The original concept for Carry On Cruising was pitched by actor Eric Barker. He conceived the film as a coach-touring holiday of Europe, and received a fee of £750 for the idea.
Charles Hawtrey was originally earmarked for the part of seasick cook Wilfred Haines but replaced by Lance Percival when his agent demanded a large increase in salary and a star to be placed on his dressing room door.
Although he receives top-billing, Sid James was paid only £4,000 to appear in the film. In contrast, Kenneth Williams received £5,000 and Kenneth Connor £4,500.
