Rudy Giuliani wins two Razzies for Borat 2
Rudy Giuliani, the attorney to former US President Donald Trump, "won" two Golden Raspberry Awards for his role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
Giuliani, who also served as Mayor of New York in his career, was named "Worst Supporting Actor" in the 2021 awards, playing himself in Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy, beating four actual actors to the award: Chevy Chase, Shia LaBeouf, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.
He was also given the award for "Worst Screen Combo". Originally he was co-nominated with the film's co-star Maria Bakalova, the two appearing in an infamous scene where Giuliani has his hand down his trousers. However, the nominees were changed, with the award going to "Rudi Giuliani and his pants zipper". Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was one of three films winning multiple Razzies this year, the others being the Absolute Proof, a documentary film claiming there was fraud in last year's Presidential Election ("Worst Picture" and "Worst Actor"), and Music ("Worst Director", "Worst Actress" and "Worst Supporting Actress"), a film directed by the singer Sia that was criticised for the way it portrayed autism.
This is not the first time British comedy or comedians have been given Razzies. Last year, James Corden won "Worst Supporting Actor" for his role in Cats, with Judi Dench being nominated for "Worst Supporting Actress". In 1999, Spice World was nominated for seven Razzies, with the Spice Girls winning "Worst Actress" for playing themselves.
