TV Comedy Preview: 27th January to 2nd February 2014

Check these things out on TV this week, 27th January to 2nd February 2014...

Dick Emery

The Many Faces Of Dick Emery

Compared to the other big comedy stars of the 1970s, Dick Emery is perhaps somewhat less celebrated or remembered. Which is odd, as his sketch show ran on the BBC for 18 years in total - with 17 million viewers at its height. About time then for this documentary assessing his career. Monday, 9pm, BBC Two. Guide

Uncle

This sitcom has quickly become one of our highlights of the week. Normally we dread Mondays, but at the moment we can't wait for it to come around so we can once again catch up with the adventures of the mis-matched duo. This week: a battle of bands. Monday, 10pm, BBC Three. Guide

Outnumbered. Image shows from L to R: Ben (Daniel Roche), Jake (Tyger Drew-Honey), Karen (Ramona Marquez), Sue (Claire Skinner), Pete (Hugh Dennis). Copyright: Hat Trick Productions

Outnumbered

This sitcom is back for what is being labelled the final series. It's hard not to focus on how much the kids have grown up since we first saw them in 2007 (in fact the official trailer in our guide does that as well). See our guide to find out more about what challenges are coming up for the family this series. Wednesday, 9pm, BBC One. Guide

This Is Jinsy. Image shows from L to R: Justin Chubb, Rex Camalbeeter (Rob Brydon), Chris Bran. Copyright: The Welded Tandem Picture Company

This Is Jinsy

This week it is Rob Brydon's turn to act as the guest star in this surreal sitcom. He plays musical star Rex Camalbeeter. One of This Is Jinsy's strengths is its musical interludes, so do head to our guide to see Rex's music video, which is on the topic of badgers. Wednesday, 10pm, Sky Atlantic. Guide

Benidorm. Cyril Babcock (Matthew Kelly). Copyright: Tiger Aspect Productions

Benidorm

Fans of the sunshine sitcom may remember Matthew Kelly popping up in the last series as Cyril Babcock, an ageing TV star who judged the Solana's talent show contest. Well, now he's back again... however, Cyril doesn't look so smartly turned out this time. Thursday, 9pm, ITV1. Guide

The Last Leg. Image shows from L to R: Alex Brooker, Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe. Copyright: Open Mike Productions

The Last Leg

This upbeat review of the week was never supposed to be on television still - it was, after all, initially a show just about the Paralympics in 2012. It proved so popular with viewers it has continued on, and thus this Friday Adam Hills, Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe launch Series 4. It might feel more relevant to the original brief again though, as they're off to the Winter Olympics later in the run. Friday, 10pm, Channel 4. Guide

Other things on TV this week include new CBBC comedy drama Hank Zipzer; Vic & Bob's House Of Fools; The Kumars; Birds Of A Feather; Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe; The Midnight Beast; Room 101 and Stella.
