TV Comedy Preview: 24th to 30th March 2014
This week, the 24th to 30th March 2014, sees lots of series come to an end...
Celebration is in the air as St Patrick's Day dawns in the series finale of the upbeat sitcom, but the Moones are having a different kind of party: Fidelma's wedding. A making-of special follows straight after. Good news for fans of the show: Series 3 is already made, so there's more adventures to look forward to. Monday, 9pm, Sky1. Guide
It's been a long time coming, but here at last is the third series of the church-based sitcom. Aside from being funny, what this show does so well is unite believers and non-believers in thinking it's great - quite an achievement. We start the series as Tom Hollander and Olivia Colman's characters prepare for their first child. Monday, 10pm, BBC Two. Guide
The Michael McIntyre Chat Show
Mixed reviews for this so far, with much comment about the guest selection. It's a diverse mix this week with Joanna Lumley and Tinie Tempah. The third guest is Richard Madeley - we're not sure what he's got to say, but hopefully his daytime TV antics will provide McIntyre with some joke fodder. Monday, 10:35pm, BBC One. Guide
The new series finishes on a double bill. Jamie's new girlfriend, Isabel, is getting clingy and Jamie's feeling the pressure now. Meanwhile Laura gets a new flatmate. Are the duo at the centre of the show finally going to settle as a couple, or will it leave us with a different ending? We wait with baited breath. Tuesday, 9pm, BBC Three. Guide
Week 2 of the new sitcom mocking BBC management. Ian Fletcher finds himself heading up to Manchester to face some questions from Jenni Murray on Woman's Hour about how the corporation is handling the latest crisis. Poor Ian has only been in the job ten minutes , but 'luckily' for him, PR guru Siobhan Sharpe is on hand to help... Wednesday, 10pm, BBC Two. Guide
Another series that is finishing this week... but the good news, as you may have read, is that the army comedy has already been given an order for another batch of episodes. We end for now with two stories back-to-back. Will Nick and his team manage to finally track down the bomber who has been bothering them? Thursday, 10pm, BBC Three. Guide
And that's it - the end for this show already. Just three episodes you see. However, the family comedy has gone down well with viewers, so we imagine that it'll be recommissioned. Fingers crossed. The Walshes are getting ready to go to their favourite restaurant in this instalment. Thursday, 10pm, BBC Four. Guide
Yet another show that's ending this week, and Stella is also on the list that has already been given the green light for another run. With a fresh start in Chichester on the cards, will lawyer Michael see the error of his ways before it's too late? Friday, 9pm, Sky1. Guide
This series ends on Friday too. It's not had too strong ratings so is a little less likely to return, unlike the others. For those still watching, there will be answers as to whether Alfie will finally manage to find love or not. Telling the truth looks like the only answer for him. Friday, 9pm, ITV. Guide
Alan Carr is back for another run of his chat show. It's his 12th series in fact. In the opening episode he's joined by guests including X Factor judge Gary Barlow, and the stars of Muppets Most Wanted - Ricky Gervais, Kermit and Constantine. Friday, 10pm, Channel 4. Guide
Another end-of-series finale. Connie plans to marry Freddie off to Sir Gregory Parsloe-Parsloe's unusual niece in this one, but with the Fat Pumpkin prize at stake, Clarence resolves to scupper the marriage and vanquish Parsloe once and for all. Dear the BBC: Please give us a Series 3! Sunday, 6:05pm, BBC One. Guide
