TV Comedy Preview: 24th February to 2nd March 2014
This week (24th February to 2nd March 2014) sees lots of established series returning for new runs...
The exuberant double-act Johnny Cochrane and Inel Tomlinson return to CBBC for a second series of their studio-based show for kids. It's a mix of sketches and studio set pieces, all delivered with a lot of charm. There's a new episode every day this week. Monday - Friday, 9:40am, CBBC. Guide
It's the first day of secondary school for young Martin Moone, as Chris O'Dowd's sitcom continues. This episode sees the school ball take place, and results in a memorable dance routine from the young star as he boldly takes to the floor to throw some shapes. Monday, 9pm, Sky1. Guide
A second series of the comedy format which we have to watch through our fingers. For those that haven't seen it before: Roisin Conaty, Marek Larwood, Joel Dommett and Paul McCaffrey dare each other to do extreme things - most of which results in some form of extreme embarrassment for the comedian at the centre. Monday, 10pm, BBC Three. Guide
Series 3 of the sitcom about a young couple trying to bring up a baby together despite not technically being a proper couple. There's family trouble from the start, with Laura's parents mid-divorce and Jamie's parents being evicted. Mike and Beth are acting awkwardly with each other too. Meanwhile, teenage Jake is attempting to get home without money or transport. Tuesday, 10pm, BBC Three. Guide
Rebecca Front and Harry Shearer guest star in this episode of the family comedy. Mum is trying to sort out a work conference call, whilst Karen has a meeting with her headmistress at school. Wednesday, 9pm, BBC One. Guide
Another change in style for the anthology series - some satire this time. A famous singer dies whilst puffing into a sick girl's birthday balloon. It comments on the value of celebrity as the father of the girl and the star's minders start to realise his dying breath might fetch a pretty penny via an online auction. Wednesday, 10pm, BBC Two. Guide
A second series of the comedy set in the war zone of Afghanistan. Captain Nick feels he must prove to his new Corporal that he can pass a weapons-handling test and so gets himself a new Glock 17. Meanwhile, Mac comes up with a novel way to prove he is the filthiest inhabitant of Patrol Base Frost. Thursday, 10pm, BBC Three. Guide
Alan Davies returns as the popular detective for a new three-part series of David Renwick's comedy drama. This time Alan is assisted in his adventures by his new wife Polly (Sarah Alexander). The first case this Friday involves a classic locked room mystery - just how did singing sensation Juno Pirelli die? Friday, 9pm, BBC One. Guide
The Perfect Morecambe And Wise

In this weekend's episode we go back to 1963, a year in which Eric and Ernie went on a dangerous mission, and danced the fandango. Saturday, 7:45pm, BBC Two. Guide
The third series of Stewart Lee's stand-up show has popped up in the schedules with very little warning. Following the announcement that Chris Morris is involved, the hype has quickly built though. Fans are in for a treat, as this looks set to be Stew's strongest series yet. Saturday, 10:15pm, BBC Two. Guide
More family-friendly fun based on PG Wodehouse's characters. Clarence's brother Gally Threepwood (guest star Julian Rhind-Tutt) intends to publish a fantastically indiscreet memoir that will disgrace the family. Connie plans to stop him at all costs. Sunday, 6:30pm, BBC One. Guide
Other things to look out for this week include Shaun The Sheep, My Mad Fat Diary, The Life Of Rock With Brian Pern, Room 101, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Stella, Edge Of Heaven and Duck Quacks Don't Echo.
