British Comedy Caricatures

Illustrator Paul Mitchell is great at creating caricatures, and he's kindly given us permission to re-publish ten of his British comedy related works here.

He tells us: "As a lifelong fan of caricaturist Mort Drucker I've gone for a Mad Magazine vibe with the work, rather than anything too savage. Inspirationally speaking, the faces of British comedy are made for caricature... and, erm... I mean that with all possible respect! It's taken me 25 years to find my voice, how does it sound?"

So, without further ado, here are six of Britain's biggest stand-up stars as caricatures, plus a couple of TV favourites too.

Shaun Of The Dead director Edgar Wright looks like he's going to miss Dr Who:

This one is probably our favourite, it's Malcolm Tucker from The Thick Of It pointing out to this country's leaders that it's all a bit of an omishambles at the moment...

Paul's most recent illustration is to celebrate the return of Peep Show:

Excelsior's Savage Pencil - Book Cover

Paul is currently creating a book, so look out for Excelsior's Savage Pencil in early 2013. He'll be posting details via his Twitter account @gastongrimsdyke

Paul has kindly offered to draw an exclusive image for British Comedy Guide readers, so if you've got a favourite comedian, panel show or sitcom you'd like to see Paul work on, let us know. Paul will then draw whatever gets the most votes.
